A Message from our Founder, Chris
Father of 7 Great Kids, Founder of Banana Bloom, and Banana Farmer
In 2015, my wife and I moved our family from the cornfields of Nebraska to the banana fields of Nicaragua with a simple but bold vision: to start a sustainable farming business that could create meaningful jobs and support rural communities.
We spent over seven years living and farming in Nicaragua. During that time, what began as a small family project grew into something much more meaningful. My children worked alongside me, and together we learned not just from the land, but from the people, culture, and community around us. That experience shaped the way we farm, the way we build relationships, and the way we think about sustainability.
The banana plant has always fascinated us. In less than a year, it can grow over 10 feet tall and produce more than 100 pounds of fruit—then start the cycle all over again. Its speed, strength, and resilience make it one of nature’s most efficient growers. That potential sparked our curiosity: what else could this incredible plant offer?
We began exploring ways to repurpose its fiber—from replacing paper and wood products to enriching the soil itself. Banana Bloom is the result of that journey. It’s our way of sharing what we’ve learned—about soil, sustainability, and growing with purpose.
